Brittany 4th grade Track Meet 5.10.11

Brittany tied for 1st in the 300 meter race with all the 4th grade girls.  She participated in the long jump, then she won the 700 meter race with the girls from her class!  Run, Britt, Run!
Grandpa came to watch Miss Britt

Opening Day Parade for softball and baseball 5.7.11

Brittany is playing for the Heat this year in softball.

Blue, the Colts' mascot, was the parade grand marshall.  This picture is purely for my neices and nephews.  Blue went to each elementary school on Friday.  My kids, being Bears' fans, wore their Urlacher jerseys to school.
Clay, really, really, enjoying throwing candy from his float.

My Kenny (aka Kenny Chesney) Day 5.6.11

The day I look forward to all year is the day of the Kenny Chesney concert.  This particular day, 5.6.11, I have looked forward to for 2 years because Kenny took a year off from touring.  This year I bought tickets (with all my birthday $ thanks to my family) to the Ft Wayne show.  Well, let me tell you I had no idea what was in store for Britt and me!  I knew I bought floor seats, not sure how the stage would be since I had never been to a concert at the Coliseum.  We were row 6, ROW 6!  Dead center, row 6!  So, this year those who are not Kenny fans might want to skip over this blog post.  If you are a Kenny fan, enjoy my view!

When we were walking in, we walked thru a special tunnel to reach the floor seats.  Brittany, being 10 took the special tunnel as we were special guests!  Ha!  We kept walking and walking, Britt said "Mommy, we are getting VERY close to the stage!"  I was trying to be a calm adult.  I was trying to contain the urge to scream outloud!
This picture shows the mere 5 rows that were in front of us.  I want Britt and I to remember exactly how close we were.
WOWSERS!
Kenny singing 1 of my favs, doing the same hand gestures I do.
He sang 2 of my absolute favorite Kenny songs, "The Woman with You" and "The Old Blue Chair".
Kenny's voice was great.  Brittany is totally one of those hands in the air, singing as loud as she can concert-goers (kind of like having a care-free girlfriend that is willing to just let go and have a good time).

Uncle Kracker opened for Kenny then came back out to sing a few songs including "When the Sun Goes Down."
Kenny, loving how loud the croud was, hanging his cowboy hat.
Sorry, had to get a picture of the booty I have paid for years to see!
Nick, from Kenny's band, Uncle Kracker, Kenny singing some old country tunes. Below, Billy Currington was the 2nd opener.  I like ALOT of his songs, Britt was ready for Kenny!
What a night, Kenny sounded great.  The seats were amazing.  Brittany and I had a glorious mother/daughter date.  At the very end, Brittany says, "Just think next year we will have to get 1st row to top this."  I said, "We will see!"  I was thinking this is the closest I have ever been to the stage at any concert I have been to.  I am 35 years old, she is 10.  What kind of Kenny monster have I created?
