School Registration

Well, I did it! I signed Clay up for Kindergarten (as well as Britt for 2nd grade). He doesn't seem to be showing any anxiety BUT the other day while riding in the car he said to Britt...

Clay: Hey sis.
Britt: What?
Clay: I think I may be nervous about going to school.
Britt: Clay, it will be so much fun you won't want to come home!
(I was doing great listening, thinking wow what a nice big sister to reassure him, then she told him he won't want to come home to ME!!!! I never said a word just listened to their conversation)
Clay: Will I see you?
Britt: Sometimes but you will be busy anyway.
Then a song came on the radio and the "talk" was over!

It is crazy that both of my kids will be in all day school, but I do feel like Clay is ready and that makes it easier for me. I make it possible on the 1st day of school to take my kids to school. I have seen the tons of Moms crying as they drop their kids off and the tons of kids crying that they want their Mommies. I have always gone by the philosophy that kids look to you to see how they should react so I try to keep my emotions in check. With Britt I was a mess, I dropped her at her classroom and as I was walking away the lump in my throat got bigger and bigger. My dear friend Stacey called my cell phone just as I was getting into the car! Perfect timing!!!! I still shed some tears but I am pretty sure Stac shed some tears too! Always nice to have a friend to cry with!!! Love you Stac!
So as the 1st day of school approaches (Aug 12th) I will have to psych myself up again and hold my tears until my back is turned! For you Moms that haven't experienced this yet, I can honestly say "cutting the apron strings" hurts!!!

Movie Review Space Chimps

One more thing we did during our busy weekend was go to the movies with Tina and Connor Brumley to see Space Chimps. I didn't know if this movie would be worth the $ or not! The kids enjoyed it and there were several funny parts! The last movie we saw in the theater was Kung Fu Panda and we will for sure purchase it when it comes out on DVD but I don't think we will buy Space Chimps! Good but not that good!

Ben and Maggie's Wedding

To go along with my last post of our very busy weekend, Ben and Maggie got married on Sunday evening. The wedding was gorgeous-hot pink and chocolate brown!!! Too cute! As the couple are Cubbies' fans they had some baseball themes. Baseball cookies/Cracker Jacks/peanuts as party favors, and a dessert table with a groom's Cubs cake including a cake topper with a groom with Cub's hat on kissing the bride. The bride even had a Cubs' garter! Too fun!!! We are very happy for the newlyweds!!! Here are some pics! Britt loved having a dance with Ben during the $ dance!

Very Busy July Weekend

We had a CRAZY weekend! Friday night Chad had a high school football scrimmage while the kids and I went swimming at Brent and Tonya's then had supper with Mike and Sandi. The Newhouse's have had 2 kitten litters this summer and my kids love kittens! Bryce in his 1st year of 4-H qualified for the 2nd round in tractor driving. He was practicing while we were there (here's an Update: he placed 5th out of 14! GO BRYCE!!!). Saturday morning we took Clay to Upward Football evaluations. He had a perm-a-grin the whole time! He was able to make some catches and had some good throws. It will be fun to watch him this fall.

Here are some pics from this summer. The top picture is from Baseball Awards night. Our team won the season (lost early in the tourney) so they received trophies-much to Clay's delight!!! The 2nd pic is from the 4th of July bike parade that our church does as an outreach. Everyone decorates bikes/scooters/strollers and then parades thru the big town of Converse! The kids enjoy it.

Cookout with the Brumley's

Last night we went to a cookout at the Brumley household. With Pam and Jay's wedding only 1 1/2 wks away, we all wanted to get together again before she quits working at Auto Owners. Pam's last day is Friday (after 7 years!?!?!?!). The Brumley's work with Pam and their son Connor has been on the same baseball team as my kids the last 2 summers. They have become great friends and we always have so much fun hanging out. The kids love to swim at their house!!! Kyle also works at Auto Owners and he is quickly becoming a good friend as well! We will miss having Pam around BUT we are very happy that she is with Jay. They will have a great life together!

There's a 1st time for everything!!!

hi everyone!

I am joining the blog universe today! I set up my account over 2 weeks ago but I am just now trying it out! I have loved reading friends' and families' blogs for quite some time. It is a great way to keep in touch and watch how each family grows and goes thru day to day life. I will try to make several posts about what our family has been up to this summer!
